Music: hate it or love it!
The history of music brings is one of a long haul. From Mozart to Beyonce is only a small step. Masters in music have one thing in common. They are excellent musicians creating original tunes or are true performers on stage.
Music starts in Greek stadia and ends in our concert halls today. We watch or See music on TV or Youtube. The opera has always been a magnet to people.
Music is always with us: on the radio and TV, in shops, at home and on our phones. We cannot miss music. It is something evident. What has made music so ubiquitous?
Music soothes oursoul and empties our brain. We feel endorphine and relaxation when we hear music. In the sauna we enjoy soft music to lay back. In open air concerts we go wild and crazy. Think of the most popular music scenes of today such as Tomorrowland in Belgium and Coachella in the US.
Music has many styles today ranging from hip hop to techno, rock to rave. You find music lovers of all kinds. People just enjoy music at home or people go to concert halls such as Sportpaleis in Antwerp or the O2 Arena in London. It cannot get big enough for perfomers. Everyone chants along with the singer and knows the lyrics by heart. Music beats are one thing but lyrics are as important to seduce the listener. Our musical identity is a question of personal preference and we have a great deal to choose from : Jazz, Blues, Hip hop, Country, Rock, Pop, Classical, Folk, Reggae, Metal, R&B, Punk, Opera, Electronic, Alternative, Disco, Soul, Ragtime, Dubstep, Dance, Ska, Bossa nova. Fashion writer and journalist Jessica Khalaf-Garnetti says: “ All equally reveal an identity of style. How often do you listen to a wonderful new or old song? Music and Fashion have long been partners in art collaborations inviting open easy listening to public extravaganzas.”
Music can be heard but can be seen too. Music videos are so important to attract listeners. Since the rise of MTV, we see music videos in alls forms. Their production cost is high but they get a big return. Music as big business.
The big stars of music in the Twentieth Century such as Elvis Presley, George Orbinson, Michael Jackson, George Michael, Tina Turner and Madonna have become immortal. They are myths and icons of their time. Their music was so decisive for their period that everyone identifies with their style and music. Their clothes and dance moves are unforgettable and often copied around the world. Think of The King of Pop Michael Jackson’s dance moves called the Moonwalk and his shiny outfits. Madonna is famour for her striking looks in the Eighties with her typical underwear looks. Showing her body with knitted tops and daring bras made by Jean Paul Gautier for her concerts and pictures are just unforgettable.
Questioning yourself which music you like most is an evident question. There is an endess list of musicians that make our TOP 1000 of all time favorites. Each radio station has its own chart list bringing us music of today and the past. Music has a long history or as Jessica Khalaf-Garnetti says:

Everyone has another favorite singer and this makes music so personal and interesting. Our personality is reflected through our musical taste. Music can be controversial or unifying. You either hate it or love it!
